MEET JESSICA

hr

Hey there! Welcome! My name is Jessica and I’m a holistic health coach who specializes in helping busy, stressed out women find balance, experience their fullest potential, and set healthy habits that last long term. Over the last decade I’ve been on my own health and healing journey where I’ve discovered key transformational tools and practices that I now love to teach others.

A little background on how I got here…

At age 17 I was attending high school, learning to fly a plane and doing my Yoga Teacher Training all at the same time. Aviation and wellness have always been two huge passions of mine. Over the last few years it’s become super clear that my life’s work and souls purpose is to guide and support others on their health journey.

Back in 2014 I was living in Miami, had a beautiful apartment, a close friend group, and a killer job. At the time I was flying home to the Bahama’s one weekend every month to see my Dad and friends. Life was good. As time went on, I could see my father’s health deteriorating and I knew I not only wanted, but needed to go home to take care of him. This was a wonderful, and equally crazy, decision that changed my life forever.

There were a lot of changes within my first year on the island. I took on responsibilities dealing with our house. Everything from managing home renovations, to the weekly meal plan. I was spending quality time with my Dad, but suffering in my now remote job. The transition wasn’t easy. I didn’t have my team, things had changed at the company, and now my added responsibilities were taking up a lot of my free time.

I was stressed, unmotivated, and found it hard to do the job that I had loved before in different times. I felt overwhelmed and stuck by the job, which made it even more difficult to move forward. In an effort to feel better, I supported myself in other areas of my life as best I could. I made time to see friends, spend quality time with family, take breaks when I needed them, and went to the gym regularly. But my career was still pulling me down. I wasn’t living on purpose or fulfilled by my work.

I needed a change and was fortunate to be able to shift from my full-time position to a freelance position with my company, keeping some of my work but not all. I also began to freelance for other companies in Aviation, starting a small freelance business. It was great! I had more balance, less pressure, and a lot less stress. I was able to take time and space to think about what was next. I continued to do the inner work on myself. Through this self exploration process my passion for health and wellness grew exponentially and I knew I wanted to help others with what I had learned.

Fast forward a few years and I graduated from my health coaching certification program! I was doing the inner work, I was feeling good, but I had also taken on a remote full-time position in Aviation. I was freelancing, but my father’s health was deteriorating and he needed more time and attention. Caregiver burnout is a real thing. I was emotionally exhausted. I was giving to him emotionally and physically, managing the house, managing his caregiver, giving to other family members, etc.

I was busy, exhausted, and on top of it, I felt guilty feeling that way. I became short with people around me, impatient and unhappy. I was trying my hardest to give to everyone and always show up happy, but it was taking a toll on the inside. There were times I felt entitled to feel and act less than the highest version of myself. But luckily, I had years of personal growth work under my belt. I had done the work and I just needed to go back to my toolbox.

I started to become more aware of how I was speaking to people and think about how I really wanted to show up. I started my day with a list of things I was grateful for. I found fun activities to do with my Dad that would make both of us happy. I went to the gym, yoga, barre. You name it, I did it. I journaled, I went to healers, I meditated. I boosted my immune system and my gut health through nutrition. I made space for myself when I needed it. And suddenly, after so much consistent practice, I rediscovered me. I felt more at peace and I could give with an open heart again.

Through the process I remembered that all I have to do is turn inward, do the work, and prioritize myself. I had to establish new boundaries and shifted my mindset to maintain the new me. This is why I preach that you must put your own oxygen mask on first, before someone else’s. If your cup is empty, you can’t help anyone. Giving to yourself, and filling up your cup first, ensures that you have enough overflow to cultivate deep relationships with those you love, enjoy your career, and feel mentally and emotionally clear about your choices.

Throughout my journey it’s become incredibly clear that we must look at our overall health holistically from many angles. Nutrition, exercise, career, relationships and spirituality. They are all connected. My passion is to coach people and give them to tools to transform their life through forward momentum and action. Making small changes to create long lasting transformation and change.

The biggest gift of all is the beautiful transformations I see with each client. Sharing in their Aha moments. Watching them gain confidence, foster healthy relationships with family and friends, have more respect for themselves and truly making daily choices that serve their best self.
